About Dr. David Pennington

Dr Pennington is the senior Plastic Surgeon and former Department Head of Plastic Surgery at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He is one of Australia’s most experienced Microsurgeons, and practices a wide range of Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery, sub-specialising in Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery of the breast. This includes reconstruction after mastectomy, breast enlargement, breast lift and breast reduction surgery. Dr Pennington also performs cosmetic eyelid reductions, face and neck lifts, cosmetic nose surgery, correction of prominent ears, liposuction, “tummy tuck” surgery, skin cancer removal, and general reconstructive surgery. In addition, Dr Pennington has thirty years’ experience in Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversal procedures and Hand Surgery, such as correction of Dupuytren’s contracture.

Dr Pennington has over fifty peer-reviewed scientific publications, has spoken as invited speaker at several international scientific meetings and presented papers at many Australian meetings. He has been an invited guest Professor and Speaker in Malaysia and Japan. Dr Pennington has been a Trainer of many other plastic surgeons through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for twenty-eight years, as well as a lecturer in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Schools of Sydney University.

Dr Pennington is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr Pennington has featured on a number of episodes of the well-known Channel Nine series ‘RPA’. The most memorable was the series in 2001 featuring ‘Safari’, the little African boy with horrible burn-scars, which captured the hearts of many Australians who watched. Since then, Dr Pennington has made three visits to Nepal, operating on patients with similar burn-scar problems to Safari, and has an ongoing commitment to that program.

The Practice Location

Dr Pennington’s office is Suite 1204 (12th floor) at 135 Macquarie Street in Sydney’s CBD, situated almost opposite the Conservatorium of Music, between Bent and Bridge Streets.

Getting to the Practice

It is strongly advised that you do not come into the city by car, as parking is difficult to find and very expensive. Public transport, or a taxi, is recommended. There are train stations at Martin Place (approximately 400 metres away), Wynyard or Circular Quay (both approximately 600 metres away – see Map). Buses from most areas have stops within 200 metres of the office. If you must come by car, the cheapest close parking is in the Opera House Carpark, at the northern end of Macquarie Street, but there is a 600 metre slightly uphill walk to the office. Cheaper still parking is at the Domain Carpark, but that is over 1 km away.
