About the Vie Institute for Beauty and Longevity:

Vie Institute for Beauty and Longevity is the longest established cosmetic surgical practice on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. Established in 1994 by Dr Mark McGovern, we started life as Sunshine Coast Plastic Surgery . Our aim was to provide state-of-the-art plastic and reconstructive surgical expertise to our immediate Sunshine Coast region.

In less than two years, our reputation for professional service of the utmost quality, grew to such a degree that many patients started travelling from Brisbane (100 km to the south ), from the northern regions of our beautiful state, from interstate and overseas. We pride ourselves on this envious reputation, and strive to ensure that every aspect of your care from your very first consultation is the most professional that you could possibly receive. In 1998, we recognised the need for a more holistic approach to cosmetic rejuvenation and the prevention of age related problems.

We researched world trends, and looked at scientific studies of the many and varied non-surgical modalities emerging from this embryonic field. After eighteen months of research and training, we opened our “cosmetic clinic” in June 1999. We changed our name to Sunshine Coast Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Clinic to reflect this addition. Once again our reputation for attention to detail and professionalism in the non-surgical field spread quickly. We realised the need to train more staff to our levels of excellence. Our search for the very best personnel on the Coast has been the hardest, but the most rewarding journey for us. Today, we have a fabulous team!

Dr Mark McGovern:

Dr Mark McGovern was the academic Dux of the Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane, before graduating M.B.,B.S. (University of Qld.) in 1983. He passed the Part I (Basic Surgery) Examinations of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons only 15 months after graduation (rather than the usual 3 or 4 years after), before training in accredited General and Plastic Surgical Registrar positions in Brisbane and Adelaide.

He completed Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical training in 1993, passing his part II Plastic Surgery Surgical Examinations at the first opportunity allowed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Following qualification as a plastic surgeon, Mark undertook further voluntary study in England for 12 months, as the Head and Neck Surgical Fellow and Microsurgical Fellow at Europe’s largest teaching hospital, St. James’ University Hospital in Leeds. He then studied all aspects of cosmetic surgery at several world-renowned centers in the United States, before establishing his practice in Maroochydore in March 1994.

He holds the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Certificate of Continuing Professional Standards, and attends numerous national and international meetings on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at least annually. Dr McGovern is a member of: The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons The Queensland Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons The Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery The American Society of Plastic Surgeons The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

He attends many conferences each year to keep abreast of changes in this extremely dynamic field.
